Identity

The Estonian DMT Department (EDMTD) was officially formed in September 2017 under the umbrella of Estonian Society of Creative Arts Therapies (ESCAT), which is uniting professionals and students form 3 CATs specializations (DMT, Art Therapy, Music Therapy). The EDMTD has its own statues and procedures and we are also working in accordance with the statues and Procedures of the ESCAT.

The EDMTD brings together dance movement therapy professionals and students and is
composed of members and supporting members. Our main goal is to contribute to the development and professional implementation of dance movement therapy and raising awareness of dance movement therapy in Estonia.

The Estonian Society of Creative Art Therapies (and the EDMTD) is responsible for Creative Arts Therapist 7 occupation qualification evaluation and renewing the qualifications in cooperation with the Estonian Qualification Authority. The DMT Department works also closely with Tallinn University where the only CATs and DMT program in Estonia is offered. We also organize or participate in organization of different events connected with DMT and CATs – trainings, conferences, projects.

Our growing community is still small (7 professional members) but closely connected and enthusiastic. The EDMTD has three annual community events to share, connect encourage and recuperate: DMT celebration day (in April 29), DMT Summer days and Christmas picnic.
