The Greek Association of Dance Therapy (GADT – Ένωση Χοροθεραπευτών Ελλάδας) was founded in 1993. It is one of the founding members of EADMT and in 2010 became one of the first full professional members. GADT is also member of the American Association of Dance Therapy (ADTA). The Board of Directors, the Audit Committee and the Ethics Committee, are the main GADT Bodies, all elected by the General Assembly. Other Committees, as well as Working Groups are formed depending on current needs of the Association.
GADT Professional Members are qualified dance therapists, with various backgrounds, who live and work in Greece. Other types of membership are Assisting Members, including dance therapy students and Honorary Members. Since 2000, members of GADT, together with members of other European associations, have been at the core of a team that worked intensely to establish EADMT and create common criteria for training programs in Europe. A number of GADT members hold a PhD and have published their research in scientific journals of the field. GADT constantly works for the dissemination of dance therapy and the state recognition of the profession. Support for members includes providing continuous updated information on dance therapy in Greece and abroad, organizing CPD activities and offering sponsorships and grants for participation in conferences and workshops.
In 2018 GADT organized successfully the 3rd EADMT Conference in Athens.
