Polish Dance Movement Psychotherapy Association

Polskie Stowarzyszenie Terapii Tańcem i Ruchem

Identity

The Polish Dance Movement Psychotherapy Association – Full professional EADMT member – was established in 2007 and, as a founding member of EADMT, has been a part of it since the beginning.

As well as having a great passion for DMT, it was founded out of the need for establishing a professional environment for DMT psychotherapists in Poland and to guarantee the highest quality standards of therapy.

In 2021 PDMPA counts 56 members, including 7 certificated DMT supervisors. The new board members, as well as the ethics, auditing and certification committees, are elected every 3 years.

PDMPA members actively take part in different research projects and publications, some of them are also associated in ADTA.
The Polish association also undertakes many initiatives promoting the DMT method in Poland. The most important were: publication of a two-volume monograph “Dance Movement Psychotherapy – theory and practice”, edited by Zuzanna Pędzich (2014), the release of a film about DMT “Listening to the voice of the body” (2013) and the organization of the yearly Polish Festival of DMT “Moving” from 2012 until 2016.

The membership of PDMPA provides each member with professional insurance, gives access to the on-line library with relevant literature and the latest research in the field. We also provide group peer supervisions, and group supervision with experienced DMT teachers.
