Praia – Portuguese Association Dance Movement Therapy is a network of professionals, students and researchers who combine Dance, Movement and Psychology in their therapeutic, social, performing, research and teaching activities. It is a non-profit organization, created in 2015, whose first objective is to recognize, support and promote good practices in the sphere of Dance and Movement in clinical, educational and social contexts.
The Dance Movement Therapists who are members of the association are professionals who have completed postgraduate training abroad, enabling them to work as clinical psychotherapists. They are clinicians who develop their clinical activity in various institutional contexts and in private practice. They train other professionals in collaboration with national and international institutions.
Praia-APDMT is an Associate Member of the European Association Dance Movement Therapy.
It organizes national and international meetings and formative events, highlighting the trainings with Susan Scarth, the general assembly and the annual meeting of EADMT in Lisbon and the training in DMT with the Faculty of Human Motricity of the University of Lisbon (FMH-UL).
In its regular activity, Praia-APDMT has had the support of the Psychiatric Hospital Center of Lisbon and signed a cooperation protocol with FMH-UL.
